Personal details: Prof. Doug McEvoy has been awarded over M in Research Funding since 2010. The study he is going to present at the ESC Congress was supported with a 5-year grant of million: „SAVE - The sleep apnea cardiovascular endpoints”. It is an international, multi-centre, randomised controlled trial which is designed to determine whether continuous positive airway pressure (CPAP) treatment of sleep apnea can reduce the incidence of cardiovascular events in high cardiovascular risk obstructive sleep apnea (OSA) patients.
Over the past 25 years he has had a prestigious career in sleep medicine, published more than 100 peer reviewed papers and has guided over 20 PhD students and clinical fellows in sleep medicine.
