Prof. Andreas Goette (Germany)
Interview: 28th of August, 02:30 pm
Hospital: St. Vincenz Krankenhaus Paderborn
Position: Chief Physician of Cardiology at St. Vincenz Hospital Paderborn
Personal details: Besides other fellowships, Prof. Goette is one of the chairman of the Kompetenznetz Vorhofflimmern e.V. (AFNET) since 2015. Under the lead of Goette the clinic in Paderborn became a medical center with a 24-strong team of cardiologists, intensive care experts and assistant physicians. His lecture at the ESC Congress is going to be about „ENSURE-AF study: Edoxaban for cardioversion of atrial fibrillation”. To see if Edoxaban is safe and effective in preventing stroke and other blood clot complications in subjects with atrial fibrillation whose doctors plan to treat them with an electrical cardioversion it was compared with Warfarin and Enoxaparin. Edoxaban is a new oral anticoagulant (factor Xa inhibitor) and the study is expected to show that it will be at least as safe as warfarin for the incidence rate for bleeding and efficacy.
