Pleural effusion -right
The pleura is built by the coelom. It forms two layers and has a thin space in between:
visceral pleura:
it is the inner layer of the pleura and covers the lung.In the hilus of the lung the inner layer transitions into the outer layer.
parietal pleura:
is the outer layer of the pleura and is attached to the chest wall. It also covers the cranial part of the diaphragm.
pleural cavity:
is the thin space between the two pleural layers. This space contains a small amount of a serous fluid, the pleural fluid.
