Osteosynthesis contains the words unidirectional- angle stabile and multidirectional- angle stabile. These terms go back to Prof. Dr. med. D. Wolter, Hamburg.
Both terms describe the angle stabile connection between screw in the bone and plate. The screw position cannot be freely chosen in unidirectional- angle stabile plates and the angle between screw and plate is usually 90°. In multidirectional- angle stabile the angle of the screw can be chosen up to an angle of 20° which clearly elevates the surgical possibilities.
