Classification of the degree of prolapse (grades)
Grade I: Internal hemorrhoids – swell into the lumen, localized above the dentate line.
Grade II: Prolapse upon abdominal pressure, spontaneous retraction afterwards.
Grade III: Visible hemorrhoids, which prolapse upon defecation, bearing down or physical strain and do not retract spontaneously. Digital reposition is possible.
Grade IV: Hemorrhoids located before the anal canal, which cannot be repositioned. Corresponds to an anal prolapse.
