The medulla oblongata is the furthest caudal located part of the brain, lying between the middle brain and the spinal cord.Together with the pons and the cerebellum of the rhombencephalon it is a very important reflex center. The brain is the part of the central nervous system which is located in the skull of all vertebrates where it functions as a control center of the body.
