Patients with a weak heart can become short of breath even with minimal exertion, because the chambers of the heart do not move synchronously. A three-chanber-pacemaker resynchronizes the heart rhythm and the quality of life of the patients rises. In combination with an integrated defibrillator the device also protects against sudden heart death.
