The oxygen- (O2) and carbon dioxide- (CO2) binding curves are shown in physiological levels: The oxygen- (O2) and carbon dioxide- (CO2) binding curves represent the dependency of oxygen- (O2) and carbon dioxide (CO2) levels measured in the blood [in ml/l] of partial pressure of oxygen (ppO2) and carbon dioxide (ppCO2) [measured in mmHg]. The CO2-binding curve is a hyperbole. It does not have a plateau in contrast to the oxygen-binding curve, since there is no maximum. The amount of CO2 levels in the blood is expandable as long as the bicarbonate concentration is increasable.
