FSME virus
The early summer meningoencephalitis is an infectious disease causes by an infection with the FSME virus. The FSME virus has three subtypes that are found in different endemic areas (Central Europe, Sibiria, South East Asia). The virus is transmitted via a tick bite. The tick serves as a vector. The reservoir for the germs mainly consists of small rodents, hedgehogs and sheep. A vaccination is possible.
