Blood flow through the liver via the portal vein, next to the hepatic artery, through the liver sinusoids of the hepatic lobules into the central vein, which then flows into the inferior vena cava. The immune cells of the liver, the Kupffer cells, are found on the inside of the vascular wall (endothelium). The bile, produced by the hepatocytes, flows into the bile canaliculi between the liver cells.
