Ophthalmoscopy or fundoscopy allows evaluation of pathological changes of visible parts of the eye. Especially the retina and supplying blood vessels can be examined. Glaucoma is a continuous loss of nerves which becomes visible in a progressing disease process at the papilla as an excavation.
