Blotchy-like atrophy of the gastric mucosa
Atrophies can have different aetiologies e.g. genetic defects, diseases, traumas, old age or under-supply of nutritive substances (trophism). Usually atrophy can be accompanied by a limited or cancelled function, a higher susceptibility and an early wear-out of the tissue. Histologically, it is based on a decrease of cell size or cell number or a combination of both.
