A vocal cord polyp is a benign tumour, which is localized on the vocal cord.
A vocal cord polyp can cause hoarseness, which can alternate in intensity when the polyp is oscillating in the glottis during respiration and phonation. Moreover, patients may complain of foreign body sensation. A compulsion to clear one’s throat is also possible.
