The ulcer as a morphologic term for different diseases shows a histologic inhomogeneous picture.
The defect of tissue in the centre of the ulcer appears in different forms; its floor can be covered in necrotic or fibrinous film or granulomatous tissue.
The borders of the ulcer can impose as necroses, inflammation processes or signs of regeneration. Indurations and undermining characterize certain forms of the ulcer.
