The treatment of hyperkeratoses depends on the causing agent.
In bothersome, exogenically caused hyperkeratoses, the focus is set on the removal of the cause, e.g. tight shoes in clavi. The excessive horny tissue is removed by softening (keratolysis) followed by ablasion of the horny layer with pumice stones, callous removers or mechanical peelings.
