Herpes simplex
The term "Herpes" originates from Latin and Greek and means "grouped vesicles". It arises due to an infection with the Herpes-simplex-virus or by reactivation of viruses already present in ganglia. The viruses are passed on via smear or droplet infection. More than 95% of the population are already infected. The first symptoms are itching and a feeling of tension, then small blisters arise on a reddened surface, that incrust after 8 to 10 days and then heal without leaving scars. The regional lymph nodes can be swollen and hurt.
