Patient with a (pain-)pump for the individual adjustment of painkiller administration done by the patient.
The pump is a small decvice whose this supply tube ends at a small needle inside the subcutis, or at a port-needle for intravenous application, or at a spinal catheter.
The pump applies the chosen (by the doctor) painkiller slowly and continuusly. Most devices contain an additional reservoir that can be used to apply boli in case of breakthrough pain.
At the same time there is a block that prevents overdose.
This makes it possible to treat chronic pain patients individually and dose them until they are pain free and this can also be done at home.
