The blood type of a human describes the composition of proteins on the surface of red blood cells. The blood types 0, A, B, and AB exist. There are antibodies in the blood against foreign blood types. Based on these antibodies, blood can clot when blood of the wrong blood type is transplanted. Blood types are hereditary.
