Eosinophilia in the setting of Churg-Strauss vasculitis: Charcot-Leyden crystal. The picture shows alveolar macrophages, numerous eosinophil granulocytes, and a dark-red, rhomboid Charcot-Leyden crystal.Clinical findings: 45-year-old patient with suspected Churg-Strauss syndrome in the setting of diffuse, bilateral pulmonary infiltrates, long-standing asthma, as well as currently blood eosinophilia and elevated IgE levels.
