Starlit sky macrophages
A secondary follicle is microscopically marked by so-called starlit sky macrophages, which are enlarged macrophages within the germinal center. The are enlarged due to phagocytosis of apoptotic B cell progenitor cells and display a bright ring in the surroundings.
